YOU MUST KEEP GOD’S COMMANDS

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments
I John5:2
Main Text:

One of the promises made to the church in Philadelphia was that God would keep them from the hour of temptation that would come upon the world (Rev. 3; 10). The lesson here is that God will not forget our faithfulness to Him. If you obey His commandments, you will not only declare/decree (Job. 22:28), but also command (Is. 45:11). Since the church in Philadelphia kept His word, He too promised to protect them against temptations of any sort. The Lord will keep you from every evil; as long as you keep His commands.

God has so many promises for the believers and we are in the position to claim and actualize these promises into our lives. Of course it’s very easy to get them. Simply OBEY His commands and all the promises shall unfold in your life. Deuteronomy 28: 1 says; ‘if you shall obey…’ I beseech you to keep diligently the commands of God all through this year of His Kingdom.

The Lord requires us to keep His commandments, His statutes and His ordinances, which He also commanded our fathers to keep. 1 Kings 8:61 says, “Let your heart therefore be wholly devoted to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as at this day.”

Again, in I Kings 9:4-5a the Lord says, “If you will walk before Me as your father David walked, in integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep My statutes and My ordinances, then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever.”

God also describes what will happen if Israel does not keep His commandments, statutes and ordinances. Read 1 Kings 9:6-10 to learn about that now! The expectation of God is your total obedience to His command. His Kingdom demands total compliance to His ordinances.

Prayer: Lord, send your rain upon my crops in Jesus’ name
