HOLDING YOUR PEACE II

“The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”
Exodus 14:14
Main Text:

When people rise up against you and you go around speaking evil of them and trying to incite others against them you are not holding your peace for God to fight for you but rather you are fighting for yourself. Instead of doing that, you should “…pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you Matthew 5:44. Learn to maintain your silence even in the face of what you know to be deliberate wicked and hateful opposition.

Holding your peace also involves going through tough times without envying the people who are doing well around you. Even some Christians cannot bear to see people who are happily married, financially blessed, prospering in the ministry, etc. if such things are not happening in their own lives. If you truly believe that God is fighting against the forces that are not allowing good things to happen in your life there will be no reason for you to envy those who are already enjoying such good things. You will know that it is just a matter of time for His victory to manifest in your own life just like it has manifested in theirs. To conquer the spirit of envy, consciously form the habit of rejoicing with those that rejoice (Romans 12:15), congratulating people from your heart even if your flesh kicks against it, sincerely praying for greater blessing upon the people that you have been envying, etc. It may be difficult at first but if you are determined to do it in God’s way, the Lord will help you, and before you know it you’ll  get delivered from the spirit of envy. Even if God clearly reveals to you that what your neighbor is enjoying is your blessing which he diverted to himself by evil means, you still cannot harbor anger, envy, bitterness, etc. against him. You hand things over to God and let Him fight for you. Our God is a just God and “Faith can sing through days of sorrow”.

Prayer: Give me peace when I am weak.
