BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING
“And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.”
Gen 12:2
Main Text: MAIN TEXT: James 1:17
The principle of being blessed to be a blessing is woven throughout the Bible, beginning with God’s covenant with Abraham. God promised to bless Abraham, not solely for Abraham's benefit, but so that he might become a conduit of blessing to others. This truth applies to every believer today, reminding us that God’s blessings—whether material, spiritual, or relational—are given so we can enrich the lives of those around us.
God’s blessings are not intended to be hoarded; rather, they’re meant to be multiplied. In 2 Corinthians 9:8, Paul explains that God blesses us abundantly so that “in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” This means that we’re not just blessed for our own comfort or success, but to contribute to the well-being of others, advance His Kingdom, and demonstrate His love in action. God’s blessings are purposeful, equipping us to impact lives, meet needs, and share the gospel.
One of the greatest ways we can be a blessing is by sharing the gospel—the ultimate gift that brings eternal life. Jesus commissioned His disciples to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19), entrusting every believer with this mission. By sharing the message of Jesus’ love and salvation, we offer others the opportunity to receive the most precious blessing: a relationship with God. As we grow in our own faith, we can encourage others in their spiritual journey, praying for them and helping them discover God’s truth and love.
Confession:
I declare in the name of Jesus, I am blessed to be a blessing. I am a source of blessing to those around me, I prosper in all my affairs, and I am prosperous in Jesus' name!
