WORSHIP IS A LIFESTYLE
"Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart."
Psalm 37:4
Main Text: Main text: Psalm 136:1–3
Worshiping our Savior, Jesus Christ, is fundamental to living a faith-filled, Spirit-led Christian life. There are countless, conflicting opinions as to how we ought to worship the Lord. There are multiple worship methods, plans, and styles that vary among cultures and geographic boundaries. The Lord enjoys diversity of sincere worship when expressed by the Spirit and in truth. Worship should be a way of life with many facets of expression. Psalms 150:6 “Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD."
The insistence that there is only one way to worship God has often left the Body of Christ confused, fragmented, and frustrated. Some worship leaders declare that a certain defined style of worship is the only correct way to worship the Lord, however, that's a narrow view of His inexhaustible riches. Music and songs are ways we can praise the Lord, but the word says we can worship God with feasting too.
Psalm 22:29 "All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before him-- those who cannot keep themselves alive." We can also worship with joyous songs (Psalm 100:2). In addition, we can worship with sacrifices and offerings (Isaiah 19:21), furthermore, we can worship God jumping, walking and shouting as the man in Acts did who had been lame but got his healing in Jesus (Acts 3:8-9). However, regardless of the method of worship, the act must be in spirit and in truth.
John 4:24 "For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” You don't have to be a great singer or musician to worship God. Our worship can be filled with radical demonstrations of praise and at other times very quiet and personal.
Confession:
I worship the Lord with all my heart and all my days I exalt him, I glory in the Lord and He is the lifter up of my head! Praise God, I’m a star.
