EVERY LUST IS A KILLER
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
James 1:14
Main Text:
The devil does not jump on any man on the street. He’s not a magnet that attracts everyone that passes within his vicinity. What leads to temptation in any man’s life is first and foremost located within the man: it is “his own lust’’! The enemy only advertises what is already in a man’s heart. Clothes and big palaces would not have enticed Samson. Those were not his lusts. In Judges: 14, 15 and 16, all that Samson’s eyes would behold was always a woman- and he lost his eyes in the long run.
The other beautiful things in Gath, Gaza, or Ashdod did not entice Samson. His lust was women. Judas Iscariot moved among female followers of Jesus. But women were not his lust; after all, several young “Mary’s’’ were around. Money was his lust. It has been in his heart before Jesus called him into ministry, in the long run, he betrayed the Master for 30 pieces of silver –money which he later returned and killed himself. May the things or persons you love do not become your lust that will ruin in Jesus’ name.
David fell prey to a shameful act of adultery with a lady of the age of his grand-daughter. Even when he was old, this once beautiful Bathsheba could not satisfy him. He began to lust for other younger virgins- 1kings 1:3, 15. He, at old age, still needed a young girl to keep him “warm”
Beloved, what do you lust after? Is it women, smoking, gambling, money, food, etc.? The end result is not always good. You need to change now. Jesus died for sinners and if you continue in your old way of life then why did he die in the first instance for you? Watch your attitude. God will surely judge if you don’t repent.
Prayer: Lord, let not my enemies rejoice over me in Jesus name.
