THE IMMINENT RETURN OF JESUS

“Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.”
Revelation 2:16
Main Text: Main Text: 2 Peter 3:9

The Greek word for "soon" is "tachu," translated as "soon as" or "quickly" or "without unnecessary delay." Primarily found in the Book of Revelation, "tachu" implies that the sovereign events of history are set in motion, ushering in the imminent arrival of Christ without unnecessary delay.

The notion of Jesus' soon return is not limited to the Book of Revelation. In 2 Peter 3:9, we learn that the Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, but rather patient, desiring everyone to come to repentance. The day of the Lord, however, will come like a thief. Jesus emphasizes readiness in Mark 13:33, indicating that His return is imminent and can happen at any moment.

Christ encourages His people to live in the awareness that He may return suddenly. Every person will be held accountable for how they are found when He returns. The answer to the question, "Is Jesus coming back soon?" is a resounding yes, and His return will happen without unnecessary delay.

Prayer:

I release every secret sin that may hinder me from seeing the Lord of my soul, Jesus. In His name, amen.
