SPIRITUAL CHECKS AND BALANCES

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?”
2 Corinthians 13:5
Main Text:

One of the features of any Presidential system of government is the principle of Checks and Balances. This means the 3 arms of government will serve as check on one another so as to avoid arbitrary use of power because, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

In the same vein as Christians, the word of the Lord is the mirror of life to check ourselves. It reveals your state per time and is a major guide to every correction required for safe landing in the journey of life. Do not reject any constructive correction or criticism from the Lord. Both will help you to achieve your goals on earth. If you run away from corrections you may be destroyed unnoticed. As you continue in the race of life, you need a constant check of where you stand. You need self-examination before others start revealing what you lack in the race. You know yourself, you understand your plans and dreams. You don’t have to deceive yourself here. Whether you are on the Lord’s side or not, you should be able to address that from within you. There’s a great power in self-examination. Are you in right standing with God? Do you relate with the Word of God to correct and direct you? Is the Lord happy with the way you are living your life? Are you a true child of God or not? Can God boldly say you are truly one of His servants in this end time? These questions and more should guide your daily living. If you can provide correct and genuine answers, you will easily know.

Beloved, kindly “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” (2 Corinthians 13:5).

Prayer: Father, please guide me into all truths and help me to check my excesses on a daily basis.
