TOO MUCH SLEEP, TOO MUCH TROUBLES
“Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.â€
Proverbs 20:13
Main Text:
It’s very important you consider your ways as you progress or live on earth. If there’s anything you must do, let it be that you daily examine your life to be sure you are on course in your journey to destiny. You can never attain greatness on earth if you give no diligence to checking your doings and the life you live. One of the greatest enemy of your progress is too much sleep. If you will show yourself a token of love/discipline, then you must learn to control the number of hours you spend sleeping.
It’s no good to sleep while others are engaging in productive work! If you abandon your assignment to sleep in the name of seeking rest, you may end up in a financial asylum. “Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.” (Proverbs 20:13). Poverty hits the lazy hands but the hands of the diligent shall be fat. “He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.” (Proverbs 10:5).
Consider what you do with your time. You can either waste or invest your time. If your investment is to sleep and sleep away, you will soon find yourself in abject poverty both physically and spiritually.
Sleeping spiritually connotes giving yourself over to spiritual poverty as it relates to spiritual development and growth. Your prayer life, study of the Word, evangelism and general growth before the Lord should be a daily concern to you. If you lack steady growth in any of these areas, you have already gone asleep and you must today awake the giants in you! Take your time to engage in spiritual exercise while the time lasts. Reject laziness when it comes to serving the Lord. If you choose to sleep while others keep vigil you may likely inherit what you have not bargained for.
Prayer: Lord, deliver my destiny from evil sleep
